Award-winning historical fiction authors Jenny L. Cote and Libby McNamee hosted Epic Patriot Camp 2023 with twenty-five campers aged 11-19 from fourteen states, D.C. and Australia. These epic young people assumed the identity of and researched a Patriot, British Loyalist or French Revolutionary character to write about seven key events from 1777-1779: Battle of Brandywine, Battle of Saratoga, Valley Forge, Battle of Monmouth,Conway Cabal, Culper Spy Ring, and the French Alliance.

Their featured characters include: *John André *Benedict Arnold *Edward Bancroft *George Blakey*Baron De Kalb *Patrick Ferguson *Benjamin Franklin *Horatio Gates *Nathanael Greene *Alexander Hamilton *Patrick Henry *Henry Knox *Lafayette *Charles Lee *George Washington *Martha Washington *Sir Henry Clinton *General Charles Cornwallis *General William Howe *King George III *Baron De Steuben *Banastre Tarleton *Benjamin Tallmadge *Comte De Vergennes *Anthony Wayne

This is their story, told in their words.

The point of camp is to encourage the next generation to learn America’s epic history and to tell the story for generations to come. We taught them how crucial it is to get the research right, and to thoroughly study the good, the bad, and the ugly of history. We also taught them how to make history come alive by relaying the facts with fictional fun. After camp ended, campers served on the editing, proofing, and/or marketing teams to learn the process of how a book comes together for publication.
